UPDATE, 12 JULY 2017: The Royal Mint has now released the design of the UK’s brand new Prince Philip coin. Approved by Prince Philip himself, it features a younger portrait of The Duke of Edinburgh and the phrase “Non sibi sed patriae” – Latin for “not for self, but country”.
It will be available in limited edition Proof Gold and Silver sometime in August.
Today, The Royal Mint announced a brand new Prince Philip coin paying tribute to his 70 years of service.
Following the announcement from the Palace on 4 May that Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh would be retiring from public duty, The Royal Mint has decided to honour his record-breaking 70 years of service to the Crown.
The brand new Prince Philip coin will be available in Gold and Silver Proof in August.
